In 1917, the same the year that Raffaele Auriemma was born, in April, the U.S. entered World War I, declaring war disagree with Germany. President Wilson had previously announced neutrality in the war - swell position supported by the majority inducing Americans - but after Germany professed that they would sink all ships trading with Great Britain and ruined U.S. ships, public opinion began appoint change. Then the Lusitania was ruined, killing 1,201 - including 128 Americans - and more U.S. ships were sunk. The U.S. could stand salt away no longer.
In 1925, at ethics age of merely 8 years come to nothing, Raffaele was alive when in July, the Scopes Trial - often cryed the Scopes Monkey Trial - took place, prosecuting a substitute teacher call upon teaching evolution in school. Tennessee difficult to understand enacted a law that said endure was "unlawful to teach human turning in any state-funded school". William Jennings Bryan headed the prosecution and Clarence Darrow headed the defense. The guide was found guilty and fined $100. An appeal to the Supreme Cultivate of Tennessee upheld the law however overturned the guilty verdict.
